Charlottesville holds innumerable possibilities for VAYD! The city itself is incredibly blue, with all of city council Democratic. The local parties are very active and supportive of the University of Virginia Democrats. With tons of opportunities in Charlottesville, VAYD is excited to expand and to form new chapters in the region.
High school groups are already extremely dynamic. Their presence is greatly apparent at events from the Grace Tinsley Scholarship Dinner to local campaign kickoffs. These high school students also impressively spend a lot of time in campaign offices as interns and volunteers. VAYD is excited to charter these already aspiring and up-and-coming clubs in the coming school year.
Two former University Democrats are starting a Charlottesville Young Dem chapter! Sarah Buckley and Maggie Thornton, both VAYD Exec members, are creating an exciting group of loyal, local young Dems. They look forward to working with the already existing groups on panels and forums.
VAYD invaded Charlottesville last March during the awesome VAYD convention. Soon, VAYD will have a permanent, strong presence in Charlottesville and all over the Piedmont Region!
