Dispatches from Deeds Country

Greetings from beautiful Galax, Virginia! I am on the ground here at the 74th annual Oldtime Fiddlers’ Convention. Felts Park is just full to bursting with oldtime and bluegrass musicians and fans. I’m looking forward to y’all joining us on Saturday to hand out stickers for our statewide candidates when the size of Galax swells an additional 50,000 people. Plan to meet at 6:30 p.m. at the front gate. Admission costs $12 and there will also be lots of wonderful food and craft vendors. I don’t mean to wax too poetic about the Galax Fiddlers’ Convention, but it is a wonderful bridge between mountain music culture and people from around the country. Our statewide candidates will be here to press the flesh with tens of thousands of Virginians from across the Commonwealth and I hope you will join us in our visibility effort. This is Deeds Country!
