Tonight I, as well as some other VAYD-ers I spotted in the crowd, got the chance to see our very own President Obama at the rally in NOVA for Creigh Deeds! It was incredible to be just feet from the man himself. He gave a really funny speech which referenced Governor Kaine's early support his presidential candidacy and Virginia's record of success under Democratic leaders.
Deeds too spoke really well, maybe better than ever. He said he was still in shock that our president would be willing to come out to support him. On stage, he looked so humble and exhilarated. I feel like he can barely even register that his name is on bumper stickers and being chanted in crowds, and that he WILL be the next governor of Virginia!
Governor Kaine spoke well as usual. He shared with us a great story: the last time he was on that stage, at that podium, he was handed a note telling him that Virginia went blue for Obama. He got to tell the audience the exciting news. And, of course, minutes later he was given a note saying that Obama won the whole shebang. I must admit that I got a little teary-eyed when he told this story. What great memories...
Well, the feeling was definitely back in that Hilton ballroom tonight. Let's do what we did in November again!
