Today, the Virginia Young Democrats (VAYD) are excited to announce the launch of a Chapter Mentorship Program. This program will connect VAYD’s smaller chapters with experienced and qualified mentors who can assist with all aspects of chapter growth, including membership, finances, communications, and campaign operations.

Maureen Coffey, VAYD’s President, says that “in a monumental election year, with all of the disruption that COVID-19 has caused, we want to be certain that young people have the opportunity to get involved and be successful - this starts with strong Young Dems chapters across the Commonwealth. We are excited to offer this program to both brand new chapters and those that have been around for years but may need a helping hand.”

The creation of the Chapter Mentorship Program will help VAYD achieve its goal of providing more support and resources to VAYD’s chapters and membership. Graham Weinschenk, VAYD’s Executive Vice President says that, “the Chapter Mentorship Program is a tangible, accessible resource that will help connect our chapters with the many additional resources that VAYD has to offer. This program will also help our chapters maintain institutional continuity when our chapters go through leadership transitions.”

Applications are now live and chapters which would like to be connected with a mentor or VAYD members who would like to become mentors can apply on our Chapter Mentorship Program Website.
