In a unanimous vote last night, the Executive Committee of the Virginia Young Democrats voiced their support for the many middle-class families in Virginia taking part in striking against Verizon communications. Verizon is demanding $1 billion in concessions from workers despite posting a profit of over $6 billion in the past year.
"This is a fight for the middle class working families, preserving wages and benefits for the workers who are at the heart of our economy,” said Virginia Young Democrats President Isaac Sarver. “We're standing up for good jobs in our communities and a fair deal for hard-working Virginians."
Good, well-paying jobs are the key to economic recovery in Virginia, not multi-billion dollar corporations demanding concessions from middle-class families.
