As this election season draws to an end, it is interesting to examine both McCain and Obama’s campaign tactics for securing their electorate if you will.
Senator John McCain, one could argue has utilized the mobilization strategy, gaining the support of voters due to his ability to manipulate human emotion; by demonizing Obama as a terrorist or a target for international threat. This has long since been a rather popular strategy within the Republican Party; however, this is not to say that the Democratic Party has never used this strategy far from it. But I would argue that the McCain campaign has spent more time and energy attempting to scare the American people about the prospects of Obama as President rather than focusing on the issues. Perhaps this is their way of veiling the fact that if he [McCain] is elected it will be business as usual with lack luster vision and innovation which is what our country needs during these troubling times.
We have witnessed a significant transition and shift within the Democratic Party, due in part to party leaders such as Senator Barack Obama; it appears that Senator Obama and Democrats as a whole have taken on this idea of organizing as a strategy. Allow me to elaborate, most of us are aware that Obama has past experience in community organizing which is simply a process of working with community leaders and citizens to improve and revive the community as a whole. Now, it is my opinion that Obama as well as the Democratic Party are transitioning into this organizing model on a national scale. Now you ask, what does this mean? Essentially, it means that as citizens of this great nation we all must take responsibility and play a role within our communities to bring about change and to revive our suffocating communities.
As Gandhi once stated, “Be the change you wish to see.” We cannot expect our nation’s leaders to pull us out of the hole in which we watched be dug as we sat idol. Now is not the time to sit and point fingers, essentially we are all to blame for the condition of our country. But the great thing is that we once again have leaders like FDR and JFK who can inspire us, motivate us, guide us, and most importantly believe in us that YES WE CAN! We, the American people can pull ourselves from the ruble of our collapsing system and take back our country and restore it to its better days! But we cannot expect our nation’s leaders whether they are Democrat or Republican to be our heroes. I do believe that this transition for mobilization to organization is a positive step forward for our country.
VOTE DEMOCRAT ON NOVEMBER 4TH!
